The CPA is a landlord port authority owning most of the infrastructure and land surrounding the port of Willemstad. These are leased to companies for port-based activities that generate income for the ports and the island. Companies interested in renting a facility or establishing a port-based company should contact the Commercial Department.
Commercial Development
The land surrounding our ports is an important prerequisite when considering the growth opportunities of the various economic activities in the ports and the subsequent effects on our island’s economy. The Commercial Department focuses on developing these areas into commercially viable propositions. The latest efforts of the department include the planning for a second Mega Cruise Terminal. The CPA has also acquired additional port-based land in the Batipanja area which is currently awaiting development. There are vast portions of land available at deep-water waterfronts, making them unique for the region and a coveted asset.
Special Incentives
The CPA regularly offers special incentive packages to its valued customers. These special offers often aim at volume discounts such as cruise passenger volume discounts for cruise lines bringing in vast numbers of passengers. The CPA also teams up with other port suppliers to offer pooled incentive packages. An example thereof is the ‘bunker-only’ package offered in conjunction with Curoil N.V., which offers discounts for vessels choosing to bunker at one of our ports.
Cruise Tourism
CPA has since long been the forerunner of cruise developments and strategies on the island. Investing, not only in the cruise ship infrastructure on the island, but also the important relationships with local and international cruise-market professionals, CPA is continuously trying to put Curacao on the map by showcasing our many tourism assets.
