Royal visit Majesty King Willem-Alexander at Mega pier Tula

On July 1st, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander revealed the name plate of Mega Pier Tula. This took place in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Máxima, Governor of Curaçao, Mrs. Lucille George-Wout, Prime Minister, Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath, Minister of economic development, Mr. Steven Martina, State Secretary, Mr. Raymond Knops, the delegation, invited guests and the general public. In a speech Minister Martina emphasized the importance and impact that the second mega pier has on the economy of Curaçao.

Minister Martina explained in his speech that the cruise industry in Curaçao keeps growing due to the unique and authentic nature of our island. Last year, more than 630,000 cruise tourists visited the island spending on average USD 80,- per visit. That underlines the direct contribution of this sector to the economy of Curaçao. CPA’s objective is to reach 1 million cruise passengers in 5 years. For the upcoming season we expect 700,000 cruise tourists, which will be a new record for Curaçao.

After the revelation Mr. de Castro invited His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima on the pier for a more detailed explanation of the cruise sector and the vision for the future.
