CPA signs contract with BAM to construct the new megapier

With the signing of the design and build contract the operational technical timeline is progressing according to plan.There are three concurrent processes being managed in the Megapier II project; operational – technical aspects, finance structuring and permit requirements. With the signing of the design and build contract the operational technical timeline is progressing according to plan. The construction of the pier will be completed at the beginning of the 4th quarter of 2017.
The finance structuring is also moving forward with several local and international financial institutions expressing their interest to participate in a possible syndication. Nibanc is the lead arranger in this process.
As far as the necessary permits are concerned CPA is in continuous contact with the relevant government authorities that fall under the three ministries; the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Regional Planning and the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature. CPA is receiving the full cooperation of the respective departments and respects all procedures that must be followed.
It is estimated that BAM will employ approximately 60 local workers to assist during the construction process.
The Minister of Economic Development, Mr. E. Rhuggenaath, was present during the signing of the contract and stressed the importance of this project for the port and for Curacao. The minister wished all parties much success with the further implementation of the project.
